City and town project files, 1976-1979.

The Office of State Planning and its successors coordinated physical and economic development within the Commonwealth on behalf of the governor. In fulfilling this function they have served as a clearinghouse for federal grants to local development projects. City and town project files were created to track such projects as proposed by municipalities under the federal Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965, PL 89-126.
