Correspondence with Lotte Lenya and Lenya autographs, 1952-1960.

Lenya expresses regrets at having to turn down Gerstman's offer [undocumented here] to play a certain role--apparently the title role in George Bernard Shaw's Mrs. Warren's profession. She also declines his offer to perform in his annual "Viennese" New Year's Eve concert (in 1954). She sends a card in March [1958] thanking him for his expression of condolences at hearing of the death of her second husband, George Davis, at the end of the previous year. In July 1960 he writes and suggests another concert at Carnegie Hall for the next year; in addition, he asks her if she would be interested in getting involved in a revival of Knickerbocker holiday on Broadway. The collection also includes two photographic portraits of Lenya inscribed to Gerstman.
