Franklin Nutting Parker was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 20, 1867. He was the son of Bishop Linus Parker and Ellen Katherine Burruss Parker. He attended Centenary College of Louisiana and then Tulane University. Parker served in churches throughout Louisiana until 1911 when he left to become the Professor of Biblical Literature at Trinity College in Durham, North Carolina. Methodist minister, editor of The Christian Advocate, bishop. Linus Parker was born in Oneida County, New York on 23 April 1829. He served as a soldier in the Mexican War in 1846. Parker served as a Supply Minister in New Orleans for two months after which he was licensed as a Methodist Minister. He became an elder in 1853. In 1853 Parker married Sallie F.
