James Edward Talmage was born Sept. 21, 1862 at Hungerford, England, and immigrated to America in 1872. After graduating from the normal course of Brigham Young Academy, he taught there for three years. He next studied at Lehigh University and Johns Hopkins. In 1888, he became President of the Latter-Day Saint Academy. In 1894, at the age of 32 he was appointed president of the University of Utah. He resigned in 1897, and died July 27, 1933. Joseph T.
