The manuscript describes the duties of the Exchequer, of the 44 offices mentioned almost half were associated with the courts. The office of the Remembrancer is described at length. The document describes the various sources of income collected by the Exchequer and the organization of the 16th century court.

Thomas Fanshawe, who followed his uncle as the King's Remembrancer, was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge, and gained his legal experience in the Middle Temple.
