The scrapbook of Harold Bacon Wood mainly documents the final year of Medical School for the class of 1901. There are clippings and photographic prints concerning classmates, particularly Josiah McCraken. Harold Bacon Wood was born in Camden, New Jersey and received his education from Westtown School and the Drexel Institute before graduating from the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania (M.D.) in 1901. He interned at Episcopal Hospital, Chester Hospital, and Howard Hospital. He accompanied Gate's Tour to Mexico as physician in 1902 and served as a inspector for the Department of Health. Josiah Calvin McCracken was a medical missionary and educator in China from 1906 to 1948. In 1919 Edward Bushnell was appointed publicity agent for the University of Pennsylvania. His appointment began a long and expanding effort at public relations at the University. In 1954 the Department of Public Relations expanded its work to include two new units, Motion Picture Services and the Office of Radio and Television.
