The addition to the processed collection (92-116, 92-119, 93-111) (5639 items, dated 1961-1993) contains correspondence, printed material, invitations and programs, photographs, speeches, clippings, reports, and financial papers, all related to the family of Dr. and Mrs. James H. Semans. Includes invitations and programs for the wedding of Elizabeth Gotham Semans and Michael Walter Hubbard, and for the wedding of Sally Trent to Charles Craft Lucas, and later, Ken Harris. Also includes genealogical notes on the Craft and Davidson families. The addition (92-068) (5 items, dated 1949-1950 and n.d.) includes calendars (1949-1950) kept by Mary Duke Biddle; a manuscript copy of a children's book (1950); a published composer's manuscript of the opera "Anna Karenina" by Ian Hamilton (1981); etchings of Duke University; and correspondence. The addition (92-069) (185 items, dated 1990) contains audiocassette tapes and transcripts of oral history interviews conducted by Judy Hogan with Roland Alston, an employee of Mary Duke Biddle and the Semans family. The addition (95-099) (7000 items, dated 1920-1995) includes letters, cards, notes, writings, printed materials, and clippings (ca. 1992-1995) concerning Semans family interests, Duke University, and the arts. There are also scrapbooks, photographs, and memorabilia collected by Dr. Semans (ca. 1920-1995). The addition (96-150) (35 items, dated 1921-1944) holds photocopies of letters from B. N. Duke to Mary Duke Biddle. There are also letters of transmissal and other financial and legal papers relating to the Mary Duke Biddle Foundation. In addition, there is a family history copied from THESE ARE OUR PEOPLE by Richard Robbins, as well as a letter from Dr. and Mrs. James Semans concerning the International Music Program at the North Carolina School of the Arts. The addition (98-084) (3000 items, n.d.) contains correspondence, clippings, programs, and photos. The addition (02-224) (7925 items, 12.6 lf; 1962-2001 and n.d. [bulk 1998-2001]) contains primarily personal correspondence (1998-2001 and n.d.). Also includes newspaper clippings, various printed material, three videocassette tapes, two audio CDs, and various color and black-and-white photographs. The addition (02-280) (3 items, .2 lf; n.d.) contains three, one-hour biographical interviews with Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans. Produced by UNCTV and housed on three VHS videocassette tapes. Addition (03-110)(4500 items, 21 lin. ft.; dated 1919-1996) includes correspondence, print material, and items associated with an NC School of the Arts Oral History Project.
