Failed fellowship applications, 1900-1937.

Failed applications for fellowship in College of Physicians of Philadelphia, 1900-1937, including application forms and letters of recommendation. Applications provide names of Fellows who proposed each candidate, explain support, and reveal some reasons for applicant rejection. Candidates rejected because of youth or geographical restriction; several practicing dentists also rejected. Occasional rejections due to unfavorable reports of character or conduct of applicant. Many rejected applicants later became Fellows.
