James T. McCleary papers, [undated] and 1898-1908.

Correspondence and miscellany (1898-1906) document McCleary's service as a U.S. congressman (Republican) from Minnesota's second district. There are letters pertaining to Civil War pensions, requests for positions in the U.S. postal service and other federal agencies, and manuscripts on monetary policy. Two letterpress books kept by McCleary as second assistant Postmaster General (1907-1908) deal with pensions, appointments, and other routine departmental business.
