Charles Fenton Mercer wrote this outline of his life ten years before his death. James Mercer Garnett published this as Biographical Sketch of Charles Fenton Mercer, 1778-1858 (Richmond, Va.: Whittet and Shepperson, 1911). The pencil emendations are probably in Garnett's hand.
