The Appomattox County chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy organization was composed of women who supported the views and philosophy of the Confederacy. The organization was once called the Ladies Memorial Association of Appomattox County. The organization was unified with other womens groups in 1894 and renamed United Daughters of the Confederacy. This organization was restricted to only women who had a relative in the Confederate Militia or was affiliated with the Confederacy some other way. The collection, which ranges from 1863 to 1984 consists of two reels of microfilm, is composed of bylaws, minutes, letters, yearbooks, and application forms for the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The organization's mission was to support the Confederate Army.
