Consists of correspondence; reports; a holograph and typescripts of Robinson's translation of Micah (n.d.); and typescripts of a biography about Robinson (1896?). Letters by Robinson include recommendations written on behalf of students and invitations and declinations. Except for a report regarding the disposition of Brown University lands, there is little information about the administration of the university. William Francis Sayles gift of a Brown building as a memorial to his son is documented. Several letters by others document portraits at Brown. Typescripts for a biography about Robinson, written by Alfred Gideon Langley, comprise about one-half of the collection.

In 1917 the university established the Brown War Records Bureau, whose intention was to "collect and preserve a record of all Brown men who are serving in the present war". Brown faculty, students and alumni who were in the military were asked to fill out a small card called "Are you in the war?" and to send original letters, clippings or photographs which "have any bearing on the service of Brown men in the war."
