Beatrice Warde collection, 1919-1970 (bulk 1950-1970).

Three publications by Beatrice Warde, five calligraphic Christmas letters, and two broadsides issued in her honor by the Advertising Agencies Service Company and the Type Directors Club of New York on the occasion of her visits to New York City in 1950 and 1953. The 1950 tribute includes a signed copy of the wood-engraved portrait by Bernard Brussel-Smith. The collection also includes: one letter to her from Edward M. Gottschall on the subject of "Thought-unit composition" and a copy of a letter to her from Sir Cyril Burt on the same topic. There are also obituary notices, an undated portrait photograph, and a reprint of her "This is a printing office" in the form of a broadside, as well as a few miscellaneous items. Frederic Warde is represented by copies of his typewritten genealogy of the Warde family and his discharge paper from the Air Service Flying School, dated 1919.
