Special commission files, 1967-1971.

Resolves 1967, cc 126, 135, 145 provided for the establishment of a commission of legislators and gubernatorial appointees known as the Special Commission Relative to the Finances and Operation of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, which was mandated to consider MBTA officer salaries, consultant fees, deficit assessment to member municipalities, prospective enlargement of the MBTA transit system, MBTA advisory board approval of capital expenditures, and related matters. The commission issued six reports through May 1971; its recommendations resulted in establishment of the Executive Office of Transportation and Construction (St 1969, c 704, s 3, effective Apr. 1971) and reconstitution of the MBTA board of directors and changes in authority fiscal procedures (St 1973, c 1140). Series was created by the authority to monitor commission activities and to respond to commission requests for information.
