An autograph collection of letters written by English aristocrats, American politicians, authors, artists, educators, diplomats, and other prominent people to various Peabodys and Lawrences, especially Marian Lawrence Peabody and Bishop William Lawrence. Also contains a personal account book, 1841-1855, of merchant and manufacturer, Abbott Lawrence and a guest list for a party in his honor.

Biographical note: Boston merchant; Abbott Lawrence was in partnership with his brother Amos, founded and developed the textile-manufacturing city of Lawrence, Massachusetts, represented his district in Congress (1834-1836, 1838-1840), and was U.S. minister to Great Britain (1849-1852).
