William Holman Hunt was an English artist and painter. Despite his father's objections, he sought a career as an artist, and studied art at the Royal Academy, where he met Millais and Rossetti; the three of them co-founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Hunt's paintings are richly colored and highly detailed; many have religious or moralistic connotations. He made several journeys to the Middle East, and painted scenes of Jerusalem. Sir William Blake Richmond was a painter, designer, and sculptor. The son of artist George Richmond, he studied art at the Royal Academy. He became a prolific portrait artist, painting Browning, Darwin, Gladstone, and the Liddell sisters, and was also proficient in landscape and historical painting.
