This collection of 20th century postcards created by a prominent physician documents his travels to Japan, Mexico, Europe, Canada, and Cuba, through his correspondence to his family. Additions to the postcard collection include clippings, photographs, Christmas cards, programs, passenger lists, and a number of magazine articles related to Jackson's career in bronchoscopy at the Temple University Hospital.

Born in Idlewood, Pennsylvania, Chevalier Jackson attended the Western University of Pennsylvania (now the University of Pittsburgh) and gained his medical education at Philadelphia's Jefferson Medical College. While he was professor of laryngology at the University of Pittsburgh, Jackson perfected the design of the bronchoscope.
