Papers of G. T. Beauregard include financial and legal documents, political materials, and personal items. Financial papers include a file regarding LeMat's revolver, in which Beauregard had a financial interest. Related materials (1859) include advertisements, gunsmiths' receipts, a partnership agreement with Alexander Le Mat, a list of related expenses, endorsements of the revolver by Braxton Bragg, Paul O. Herbert, and Winfield Scott, and applications for French, Belgian, and Russian patents and caveats. Papers document Beauregard's management of the New Orleans and Carrollton Railroad and include a circular defending Beauregard's presidency of the company, a contract for the company's reorganization (1866), an agreement with May and Graham regarding the lease of the railroad (1867), financial statements, and letters related to the railroad's financial management. Papers related to the city of New Orleans (1888) include a report on cleaning and improvements of streets, a drawing of a mechanical street sweeper, and a payroll list of the New Orleans Department of Public Works. Included are materials related to Beauregard's "Self-acting Bar Excavator" (1874), the building of jetties at the mouth of the Mississippi River in connection with J. E. Cenas, the will of Marguerite Cenas (1887), and the oath of allegiance of Marguerite Cenas. Papers of Rene Toutant Beauregard include messages of condolence upon the death of his father, items related to his election as judge, documents pertaining to a suit by the federal government against the Cenas heirs, checks, and correspondence. Manuscript volumes include bank and check books of Rene T. Beauregard (1909-1910), notebooks of members of the Cenas family (1898-1908), a scrapbook (1893), and photograph albums. Printed items include an address (1873) and by-laws of the Louisiana Immigration and Homestead Company; pamphlets related to Louisiana politics, the Calcasieu Sulphur and Mining Company, farming and livestock, engineering, Civil War history, the Louisiana lottery, Cajun recipes, recreation, and education; and newspaper fragments and clippings.
