Weinstein describes his early years as a professional working under Donald H. Elliott for John V. Lindsay's mayoral campaign and later in the mayor's Urban Design Group. He candidly discusses his association with the Museum in planning and implementing the sale of its air rights in 1977 which enabled the Museum to initiate its 1984 Expansion Project and he comments on his relationships with those involved, such as Donald H. Elliott, Richard H. Koch, Donald B. Marron, William S. Paley, Blanchette H. Rockefeller, and David Rockefeller. He describes the steps taken, the choice of architect, the involvement of public and private entities in the. process, and comments upon the ultimate product.
