Long and eloquent letter from Wagner to his friend August Roeckel. Wagner expresses his ideas on subjects such as freedom, truth, love, and nature, and how he has tried to demonstrate these ideas in DER RING DES MNIBELUNGEN and its characters. At the end of the letter, Wagner mentions the productions of TANNHÄUSER and LOHENGRIN, and his success in Boston.
