Worcester Art History Photograph Collection, 1880-1940.

This massive photographic collection was created by the Worcester ArtMuseum to be used as an art history teaching aid. The collection documents the evolution of architecture from the ancient period of Egyptian, Greek,and Roman structures to Medieval and Renaissance architecture throughout Europe. The modern period of architecture focuses on American, German, English, and French buildings and monuments. A small part of the collection contains photographs of examples of German, French, and Italian book illustrations, illuminated manuscripts, and religious icons and paintings.The collection contains approximately 20,000 black & white prints mounted on 36 x 46 cm. boards.
