Collection of Californiana manuscripts, 1772-1849.

The collection consists of photostatic copies of the correspondence of Catholic missionaries of California with governors, letters and reports from military and civil authorities, and statistics of the missions. These manuscripts constituted the archives of the Spanish and Mexican governors of California and were kept at the Carmel Mission before they were acquired by Alexander S. Taylor.
