Confederate pensioners' record, ca.1865-1939.

In 1899 the State Legislature authorized pension payments for Confederate veterans residing in Ala. other than those who were disabled (Acts of Ala., 1899). The state auditor would authorize warrants to be drawn on the state treasury for pension payments. This series records the pensioner's name, pension number, occupation, where wounded, date of wound, whether a widow or veteran, company, regiment, and branch of service. This information can also be found in the Confederate Veteran Pension Application series.
