British army colonial manuscripts, ca. 1752-1807.

A collection of papers relating to British colonial forces during the late eighteenth century. Included are orders, receipts for supplies, inventories, letters by officers such as Jeffery Amherst and James Abercromby and other similiar materials. A majority of the materials pertain to British forces in America during the French and Indian and Revolutionary Wars. One item of particular interest is a statement showing the provisions necessary to maintain one corporal and eleven privates for one month.
