Mary Ann Colling Starring papers, 1929-1955.

This collection contains rural school music festival programs from various counties in Michigan as well as programs from music presentations and banquets at MSC, a "MSC Bulletin" from the summer of 1935, and a picture of students dancing. The Rural Music Programs Instructions folders contain music and dance instruction notes for the county music festivals.

Mary Ann Collinge was an Extension Specialist in Music for Michigan State College in the 1930s and 1940s. During this time, she directed many music festivals featuring elementary school students from rural school systems in Michigan. She taught music education courses at MSC during the summer of 1935. Collinge was a native of Minnesota. She held a B.M. degree in music and prior to MSC she served as Director of Grade Music in Virginia, Minnesota from 1930-1931. She married Robert W.
