This series consists of "transcripts of entries of public lands . . . prepared under the direction of the Secretary of State from the Records of the U.S. Land Office," probably transcribed ca.1880-1890. Some of the transcriptions are by county, some are from a particular land office, while others are for homestead entries or 16th section land entries. A number of the transcripts are simply a numerical listing by certificate number. The information recorded varies, but a typical entry includes tract location, name of purchaser, date of purchase, county, and certificate number. These records document the work of the Secretary of State in relation to the sale of public land.
