This classification, established during 1960, contains investigative cases conducted under the Federal Train Wreck Statute (18 U.S.C. 1992), which broadened and clarified 1940 legislation which made wrecking tains a Federal crime. The FBI established this classification when it assumed responsibility for ascertaining the protection capabilities and weaknesses of defense plants. Each plant survey was a separate case file, with the survey, supplemental surveys, and all communications dealing with a plant insofar as plant protection was concerned, filed together.
