Box 1: Twenty letters written by Harte, ca. 1873-1897, including seven to his wife, and one each to his daughter, Jessamy, Henry W. Longfellow, Wemyss Reid, Francis Burand, George Baintree, and other correspondents. Boxes 2 and 3: Manuscripts (primarily holographs) of A Belle of Canada City, Chu Chu, The Convalescence of Mr. Jack Hamlin, Dick Spindler's Family Christmas, A Jack and Jill of the Sierras, The Man and the Mountain, A Niece of Mr. Jack Hamlin's, Penelope, Prosper's Old Mother, and Under the Eaves; holographic manuscripts of two book reviews. Volume 1: Manuscripts of two Harte stories translated into French by Madame Van de Velde.
