Correspondence, 1726-1880; Dutch documents and letters, 1703-1791; account and memorandum books, 1727-1825, including Peter Veeder's ledger, 1789 and a pocket memorandum book of Abraham Truax, 1822-1825, both merchants. Also included are family land papers, which include agreements, deeds, leases, mortgages and other records, 1733-1865. Other business papers in the collection include bills, statements of account, orders and receipts, 1717-1868. These records include information on specific items purchased and the cost of these items. Also included are legal papers such as summonses, executions, certifications, depositions, oaths, affidavits, and powers of attorney. Church records containing information on local church activities are also included. The collection also contains several documents relating to Erie Canal damage in Schenectady in 1856-1857 and several documents relating to such topics as slaves and army and militia enlistment and supply. Wills of a number of family members are also included.
