Most lovely Lizzie: love letters of a young Confederate soldier, 1863-1865.

Letters, 1863 Oct. 3 - 1865 Feb. 2, from Samuel King Vann to Nancy Elizabeth (Lizzie) Neel in Jefferson Co., Ala. Although most of the letters are expressions of romantic sentiment, Vann does indicate where he was when writing: Chattanooga, Tenn.; Dalton, Ga.; Franklin, Tenn.; Tupelo, Miss.; and finally Green Cut Station, Ga. Additional topics discussed are the weather, news of family and friends, and "this unholy war." The last four letters contain several graphic descriptions of the fighting, including the death of some of his comrades. Vann apparently was a member of the 19th Ala. Regiment.
