Harry A. Nethery was born on January 19, 1918. In 1939, he graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Business. In 1940, he enlisted in the Navy, but he did not serve until 1941 after he received his MBA from Harvard University School of Business. While in service in 1941-1945, Nethery served as Commander in the Naval Supply Store.
