It was reorganized as a Minnesota corporation in 1900 to take over the coal properties of the Montana corporation and to manage mineral lands owned by GN on Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range. The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam.
