A native of Connecticut, Henry Lee Lathrop (1849-1943) resided in Fort Worth and San Antonio, Texas. The Henry Lee Lathrop Papers contain land records, letters, and tax receipts. Included are deeds to property in Tarrant County and tax receipts for property in Tarrant County and Fort Worth. Letters include two from J. M. O. Menard of Galveston concerning the flag used by Texans at the Battle of San Jacinto.

The son of Daniel and Desire Lee Lathrop, Henry Lee Lathrop was born in Norwich, Connecticut, on 1849 November 21. By 1860, he and his family had moved to Silver Creek in Chautauqua County, New York. Lathrop first appears in Texas in the 1880 census, residing in the Wise County town of Aurora. By 1900, he was living and working as a hardware dealer in Fort Worth.
