Parker (1920- ), a geologist and oil explorer, was born in Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in 1941. After working for Stanolind Oil, Parker joined Kirby Petroleum Company in 1952 and was in charge of exploration in the western United States and Canada. Geologist, educator, farmer, and consultant. Born in Princeton, North Carolina on 24 July 1891. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1918 with an M.A. in Geology in 1920. He served briefly in the army in France, seeing combat in the Argonne Forest. He received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1924. He became the State Geologist of North Carolina (1925-1926, 1940-1965).
