Geologist, educator, farmer, and consultant. Born in Princeton, North Carolina on 24 July 1891. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1918 with an M.A. in Geology in 1920. He served briefly in the army in France, seeing combat in the Argonne Forest. He received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1924. He became the State Geologist of North Carolina (1925-1926, 1940-1965). Professor of Geology (1926-1957) and Head of the Department of Geology (1927-1957) at North Carolina State College.

Jasper L. Stuckey was a geologist, educator, farmer, and consultant. He served briefly in the United States Army in France, seeing combat in the Argonne Forest. Stukey received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1924 and became the State Geologist of North Carolina, serving 1925-1926 and 1940-1965. He became professor of Geology at North Carolina State College in 1926 and served as head of the Department of Geology from 1927 until 1957.
