Alonzo George Barber was born the son of George and Rebecca Louisa Ramon Barber on February 26,1857 at Ft. Supply, Wyoming. His father had emigrated from England in 1850, having joined the Mormon church several years previously. His mother Rebecca was George's second wife. Born in Addison County, Vermont, her family moved soon after to New York, then to Nauvoo, Illinois in 1836.
