The Lewiston sugar beet plant operated from 1905 to 1971. The plant in Lewiston was named the Lewiston Sugar Company until it - along with the Ogden and Logan plants - merged into the Amalgamated Sugar Company in 1915. The peak year for production at the Lewiston plant was 1920. The Franklin County, Idaho Beet Growers Association (FCBGA) was incorporated 1931 and dissolved in 1981. The association's purpose was to market beets grown by Franklin County farmers. When the Utah Farm Bureau Federation began the cooperative marketing of Utah sugar beets in the 1920s, the FCBGA organized in response.
