Eloise Jarvis McGraw was born December 9, 1915, in Houston, TX, and died November 30, 2000, in Portland Or. She became a writer of fiction, fantasy, and mysteries for children and young adults, and won three Newbery Honors for her work, along with many other awards and honors.
