David S. Wise graduated from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1963. He received a B. S. degree in mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University in 1967 and an M. S. and Ph. D. in computer science from the University of Wisconsin in 1969 and 1971. Wise held faculty positions at the University of Edinburgh, Oregon State University, and the University of Washington, in addition to the position of Senior Scientist at Tektronix Labs.
