Evan P. Aurand, born June 10, 1917 in New York, New York, is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and served as a Navy airman during World War II. From 1957 to 1961, Aurand served as Naval Aide to President Eisenhower. During the early 1960s, he was the commander of the U.S.S. Greenwich Bay and the U.S.S. Independence.
