Dwight David Eisenhower (1890-1969) was leader of the Allied forces in Europe in World War II, commander of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), and the thirty-fourth president of the United States, from January 20, 1953, to January 20, 1961. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890, in Denison, Texas, the third son of David Jacob Eisenhower, a railroad worker, and Ida Elizabeth Stover. Roger W. Jones (1908-1993) was born in New Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Cornell University and received a masters degree from Columbia University. In 1933 he moved to Washington, DC, and went to work for the Bureau of the Budget. During the Eisenhower administration Jones served as Assistant Director for Legislative Reference and as Deputy Director of the Bureau.
