General Leon William Johnson (13 September 1904 – 10 November 1997) was a United States Air Force general who was awarded the Medal of Honor for leading the attack on the Ploesti oil fields during World War II. General Lauris Norstad (1907-1988) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and grew up in Red Wing, Minnesota where he attended high school. After developing an interest in military service, Norstad secured an appointment to the United States Military Academy where he graduated in 1930 with a commission as a second lieutenant of cavalry. Charles Randall Brown (1899-1983) was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1921 and was commissioned ensign the same year. He advanced through grades to rear admiral in August 1944, and served as Commander In chief of Allied Forces, Southern Europe, from 1959 to 1962. He retired in January 1962.
