Lyman Louis Lemnitzer (August 29, 1899 – November 12, 1988) was born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. He received his commission in the Coast Artillery Corps from West Point in 1920 and was an instructor at West Point from 1926 to 1930, and again in 1934 and 1935. George Henry Decker (1902-1980) was born in Catskill, New York. He earned a B.S. degree from Lafayette College in 1924 and commissioned in the infantry in the same year. In 1937 he graduated from Command and General Staff School. He was deputy chief of the Third Army and then the Sixth Army between 1942 and 1943.
