Upon receiving the John C. Jones Medal for Distinguished Service at the Bellevue-Stratford Hotel in Philidelphia, Lt. Gen. L.H. Campbell speaks on the ordnance effort to assist the Army's fighting troops, and recounts his recent visit to the Western and Italian Fronts during which he spoke at length with Gen. Dwight Eisenhower. Gen. Campbell recounts the opinions of other notable commanders on the situation abroad, including Generals Simpson, Hodges, Bradley, Devers, Patch (Hatch?), Clark (Clarke), Trescott, and Field Marshall Alexander. Gen. Campbell goes on to describe battle conditions in Italy and his impressions of our troops stationed there. Gen. Campbell's talk includes the reading of letters from Eisenhower and General George Patton.
