Mary Greene Blumenschein was born in 1869. She lived and painted in Paris at the turn of the 20th century where she won the Paris Salon Third Medal in 1900. She became the second woman and first American to win the Paris Salon Second Medal in 1902. In 1905, she married Ernest Leonard Blumenschein in Paris.
