Peter J. Anderson Papers 1775-1990

This portion of the Anderson Collection pertains almost exclusively to Anderson's activities while a member of the Byrd Polar Research Center at The Ohio State University. Included in this collection are materials related to Anderson's project "A Chronology of the United States in Antarctica," funded by the National Science Foundation from 1984-1987. There are also extensive materials collected by Anderson in preparation for a definitive biography of Richard E. Byrd. Also included isan extensive collection of audiovisual materials, both historic and modern, related to the polar areas.

Peter J. Anderson served as historian and assistant director of the Byrd Polar Research Center at The Ohio State University from 1974 until 1992. In addition, he served as secretary of The American Polar Society and editor of The Polar Times from 1989 until 1992.
