George Kressbach letters 1945 Kressbach, George letters

Ensign George W. Kressbach wrote 16 letters to his family in Monroe, Michigan, while serving on the USS LCI(R)-770 in the Pacific during the spring and summer of 1945. He commented on military life, discussed his relationship with his girlfriend, responded to news from home, and briefly described his experiences while on leave.

George W. Kressbach was born in Monroe, Michigan, around 1921, the son of George J. Kressbach and Harriet B. Nieman. He had at least one sister, Helen. Kressbach served as an ensign with the United States Navy during World War II, and was stationed onboard the USS LCI(R)-770 in the Pacific between May and September 1945.
