Dr. Henry Jones Alvord was born on June 8, 1811, in Greenfield, Massachusetts. He later moved to Michigan, where he was a physician, and served as Senator for Michigan's Twenty-ninth District from 1855-1856. In 1861, he was secretary of the Michgian Soldiers' Relief Association in Washington, DC. He died in Washington on July 7, 1877, and was interred in Elmwood Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan....
