Jasper Green Pennington, Episcopal clergyman, was born in 1939. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1973 and became rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Ypsilanti, Michigan, in 1983, a position he held until his retirement in 2001. During his retirement he served at other Episcopal churches in Southeastern Michigan, including St. Clement's in Inkster, Michigan. St. Luke's Church was founded in 1830 (its first name was St. James') as a result of missionary work to the area undertaken by the Rev. Richard Fish Cadle and the Green Bay Indian Mission. Later in 1834, following the loss of several families, the church was reorganized.
