The Stabler family descended from Edward H. Stabler a Quaker who was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 1813. Louisa M. Field and Edward were married in 1859 and eventually settled in her family home in Brooklyn, New York. Her aunts, Sarah and Hannah Field, lived in nearby Port Chester. A son, Edward L.
